Born Meyer Suchowljansky, Meyer Lansky was a major organized crime mobster who was a part of the ‘National Crime Syndicate’, along with Charles Lucky Luciano, about who we already spoke.
Know as the ‘Mob’s Accountant’, Meyer was born on July 5, 1902, and managed to create a gambling empire, owning points in casinos located in London, Cuba, the Bahamas, and of course, Las Vegas.
Illegal gambling was the only serious thing that Lansky was found guilty of.
Lansky was named by Forbes one of the 400 richest people in the US, in his heyday, with an incredible net worth of $600 million.
His last years were spent at his home in Miami Beach. At the age of 80, on January 15, 1983, Meyer Lansky died of lung cancer.
