3Amado Carrillo Fuentes
One of the most famous gangsters of all time, Amado Carrillo Fuentes was a Mexican drug lord, known as ‘El Senor de Los Cielos’ (meaning ‘Lord of the Skies’).
He gained this nickname thanks to the large fleet of jets he used to transport drugs.
Fuentes was transporting 4 times more cocaine to the US than any other drug trafficker.
So it’s not a surprise that he built a fortune of $25 billion.
Born on December 17, 1956, Amado Carrillo Fuentes was the gangster who killed the Juarez Cartel’s boss, Rafael Aguilar Guajardo.
He took things to the extreme. The drug lord died in a Mexican hospital, on July 3, 1997, after undergoing a plastic surgery to change his appearance. Was that too much?
His funeral is considered the most expensive one in all Mexico’s history, with over 100.000 people.
