Literally translated ‘Yellow Mountain’, Huangshan is a mountain range, located in southern Anhui province, in eastern China.
The mountains were carved by glaciers during the Quaternary.
This location is well known for its Huangshan Pine trees, peculiarly shaped granite peaks, winter snow, mesmerizing views of the clouds from above and the list can continue.
Representing one of China’s major tourist destinations, Huangshan it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, designated in 1990.
And it is often the subject of photography, as well as of traditional Chinese paintings and literature.
Something interesting worth mentioning is its legend. Did you know it has one? People said that Tao priests attained immortality by practicing internal alchemy there.

To get to Huangshan, there are direct buses running from Shanghai’s South Bus Station to Huangshan Bus Station, in Tunxi. The trip takes around 5 hours.
An alternative would be the daily flights from Shanghai to Huangshan. Either way, you must get there! It’s amazing!
