The most luxurious summer destination in 2026, in our ranking, is still Paris, which has nine Three Key hotels in the Michelin Keys selection. Bora Bora, Venice, Santorini and Cabo San Lucas complete the five. For each one we checked the hotel ratings and the 2026 rules that now change how you plan a summer trip, from Venice’s day-tripper fee to Santorini’s cruise caps.

1. Paris, France
Paris is on the Seine and holds the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées. Michelin’s Paris key list names nine Three Key hotels: Le Cheval Blanc Paris, Le Ritz Paris, Le Meurice, Maison Villeroy, La Réserve Paris, Le Four Seasons George V, Le Bristol, Plaza Athénée and Le Saint James. Seven more hotels hold Two Keys, among them Le Nolinski, Mandarin Oriental Le Lutetia, Hôtel de Crillon and Le Peninsula Paris.

2. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Bora Bora lies about 230 km northwest of Papeete, surrounded by a barrier reef and a lagoon, and its WWII cannons are a reminder of the American base that closed in 1946. Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora received Two Michelin Keys in October 2025 and kept them in the 2026 selection. St. Regis Bora Bora also earned Two Keys in the 2025 edition. French Polynesia has only five Key hotels.

3. Venice, Italy
Venice and its lagoon have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, and the city is still one of the best romantic getaways in Europe. The challenge in summer is crowds. For 2026, a day-tripper access fee was reported to apply on 60 days between 3 April and 26 July, from 8:30 to 16:00. It costs €5 per person if paid at least four days ahead and €10 within three days. Overnight guests and residents are exempt, so a hotel stay avoids it, and the fee does not apply in August. We could not open the city portal, so check the official rules before you travel.
How we valued it: unbeatable setting, but crowd rules and limited Key data pull it below Bora Bora.
4. Santorini, Greece
Santorini is the largest island of a small circular archipelago in the southern Aegean, with whitewashed villages, beaches and luxury hotels. Michelin’s Santorini page shows 16 hotels with a Key icon, including Katikies Santorini, Kivotos, Canaves Epitome, Perivolas and Grace Hotel, which appears to show two. Bellonias Villas kept One Key in the 2026 selection.
Santorini has also moved to control crowds. Cruise passengers pay a €20 per-person fee from 1 June to 30 September, and reports describe a daily cap of 8,000 cruise passengers. Staying on the island avoids both.

5. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Cabo sits at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in Baja California Sur, known for its beaches, diving, marine life and the El Arco sea arch. Together with San José del Cabo it forms Los Cabos. An older Michelin Keys listing put One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza, Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, Zadun, Montage Los Cabos and Chileno Bay at Two Keys. We could not confirm their 2026 status, so check the current selection.
