6.Mount Kailash, Tibet
One of the most holy places in the world is Mount Kailash, in Tibet.
A holy ground for four religions, Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, Mount Kailash has never been scaled, being considered to be too dangerous.
However, each year thousands of pilgrims make their way to Mount Kailash, the pilgrimage being one of the toughest across the world. The visitors can experience fatigue and acrophobia, having to brave erratic weathers. Accomplishing this heavy task is believed to bring fulfilment and blessings.
The Hindu religion believes that Mount Kailash is the heavenly abode of Lord Shiva (the destroyer of ignorance, evil and illusion), the Jainism calls it Meru Parvat or Mount Sumer, while a sect of Buddhists believe that Mount Kailash is the home of the Buddha Demchok or supreme bliss.
No matter what it means, the Mount Kailash is one of the most sacred places in the world.
