4Budapest Opera House
This is truly a must-see tourist attraction! The Hungarian State Opera House was built in 1895, it opened to the public in 1884.
Located on Andrassy ut, the neo-Renaissance building hosted several important artists, and 2 examples are the composer and director in Budapest from 1887 to 1891, Gustav Mahler, and the music director from 1947 to 1950, Otto Klemperer.
The building’s auditorium holds 1.261 people and as you can see, it is horseshoe shapes.
We can all agree that the Opera House is amazing and it’s a must-see.
The foyer features marble columns, while the vaulted ceiling is all covered in murals depicting the 9 Muses.
Among other features are included the main hall, decorated with a bronze chandelier weighing 3050 kilograms, a fresco depicting the Greek Gods in Olympus, a revolving stage, a metal hydraulic machinery and a royal box located centrally, decorated with sculptures depicting 4 operatic voices (soprano, bass, tenor and alto).
