Gareth Bale is a Welsh professional footballer and his current net worth is $135 million.
Born in Cardiff, Wales as the child of Debbie, an operations manager, and Frank, a school caretaker, he went to Eglwys Newydd Primary School at Whitchurch.
While in school he caught the attention of Southampton when playing in tournament with his first club, Cardiff Civil Service Football Club.
As a child, he used to admire fellow Welshman and Manchester United player Ryan Giggs.
While attending Whitchurch High School in Cardiff he used to display his talents as a keen athlete. He also played football next to future Wales’ rugby captain Sam Warburton, as well as rugby, hockey.
At 14, he used to run the 100 meter sprint in 11.4 seconds, according to him. The school’s PE teacher had to write special rules for him when he played one-touch football, because of his excellent superior footballing skills.
While at Whitchurch he trained at Southampton’s satellite academy in Bath. At 16 years old he helped his school’s under-18 side win the Cardiff & Vale Senior Cup.
In the summer of 2005 he left school with a Grade A in PE amongst his other excellent GCSE results.
In his latest year at school, he received the PE department’s prize for service in sport.
At 16 years old he became the second youngest player ever to play for Southampton, after Theo Walcott, when he debuted in the Saints’ 2-0 victory game against Millwall.
The same year he scored his first league goal, a free kick on the game against Derby County.
After he struck the post from one against West Bromwich Albion, his reputation as a free kick specialist grew on him.
In 2006 he won the Carwyn James Award for the BBC Wales Young Sports Personality of the Year. Also then he became the Football League Young Player of the Year.
In 2007 he completed his final game for Southampton, with a total of 45 appearances and 5 goals for the team.
Today he plays as a winger for Spanish club Real Madrid and the Wales national team.
