Gary Vaynerchuk is an American entrepreneur, author, speaker and internet personality and his current net worth is $110 million.
Born in the Soviet Union, he and his eight family members lived in a studio-apartment in Queens, New York; he immigrated to the United States in 1978.
Later, his family moved to Edison, New Jersey where he opened a lemonade-stand franchise. While there, he earned thousands of dollars on weekends trading baseball cards.
At 14 he joined his family’s retail-wine business. He graduated from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree.
Upon graduation, he took over his father’s Springfield, New Jersey store, called Shopper’s Discount Liquors.
The first thing he did after taking over is renaming the store to Wine Library. Meanwhile, the store launched sales online and in 2006 started a daily webcast covering wine, called Wine Library TV.
By 2005 he grew the business from $3 million to $60 million a year, though a combination of e-commerce, email marketing, and pricing.
In 2011 he stepped away to focus on the company, VaynerMedia, a digital ad agency, co-founded with his brother.
VaynerMedia provides social media and strategy service to Fortune 500 companies like General Electric, Mondelez, and PepsiCo.
In 2015, the company changed its name from VaynerMedia to AdAge’s A-List agency.
So, the company grossed $100 million in revenue in 20016, with more than 600 employees.
Now AdAge’s A-List agency is an official partner of Vimeo, in order to connect brands and filmmakers for digital content.
In addition, The Wall Street Journal reported that he formed The Gallery, a new company that houses PureWow, following its acquisition by Vaynerchuk and RSE Ventures along with other media and creative-content properties.
PureWow’s CEO Ryan Harwood is The Gallery’s CEO.
Vaynerchuk has made a number of personal investments as an angel investor including in women’s publisher, PureWow, in 2017.
