How much is Jack Dorsey worth in 2026?

We estimate Jack Dorsey’s net worth at about $5.5 billion. It is an estimate: nearly all of it sits in one stock, and a filing from March 2026 shows he owns 48,844,566 Block shares. Of those, 1,000,000 are Class A and 47,844,566 are Class B. That is about 8.2 percent of the company’s equity and about 42 percent of its voting power, because Class B shares carry ten votes each.

At Block’s closing price of $74.55 on October 26, 2026, that stake is worth about $3.64 billion. A stock that has traded between about $48 and $87 over the past year can move that number by more than $1 billion in either direction.

Next we add the Twitter stake. When Twitter was taken private, Dorsey rolled about 18 million of his shares into X Holdings instead of taking cash. At the $54.20 deal price those shares were worth about $978 million, and we use that as a floor because the later value of the holding company is not public. Finally we add cash from past share sales and subtract the roughly $1 billion he pledged to charity, of which about $635 million had been paid out by August 2026.

Other public estimates are wider. A major wealth index puts him above $8 billion, another figure is near $7.2 billion, and others sit between $4.2 billion and $4.6 billion. We settle between the two clusters because the Block stake is documented but the value of his other holdings is not.

How Jack Dorsey built it

  • Co-founded Twitter. His Twitter stake was rolled over into X Holdings.
  • Built a payments company. He runs Block, the company behind Square and Cash App.
  • Kept a large stake. He owns about 48.8 million Block shares.

Jack Dorsey in 2026: what they have been working on

  • February 26, 2026: Block said it would cut more than 4,000 jobs, about half its head count by one report and about 40 percent by another. The company expected charges of $450 million to $500 million, and shares rose as much as 24 percent in after-hours trading. Dorsey said in a shareholder letter that the cuts were not because the company was in trouble.
  • 2026: Reorganized Block around an AI layer, according to a profile page.
  • August 2026: The charity program he seeded in April 2020, #startsmall, was reported to have paid out about $635 million of its roughly $1 billion.
  • October 26, 2026: Block shares closed at $74.55. The company reports third-quarter results on November 3, 2026.
  • Ongoing: Block holds 9,117 bitcoin on its balance sheet, with a fair value of about $534 million at the end of June 2026. That is a company holding, not a personal one.

How Jack Dorsey makes money

Dorsey takes almost no cash pay, so his wealth comes from ownership.

  • Block shares: The core asset. His reported total compensation was $2.75 in each of 2023, 2024 and 2025, with no stock or option awards, so the stake grows only with the share price.
  • Twitter rollover: About 2.4 percent of Twitter was converted into X Holdings, worth about $978 million at the deal price.
  • Past share sales and cash: Proceeds from selling Twitter and Block shares over time. Amounts are not public.
  • Bitcoin and other investments: He is a vocal supporter of bitcoin. His personal holdings are not disclosed, and Block’s own bitcoin is a corporate asset.
  • Charity commitments: A deduction rather than income: roughly $1 billion pledged to #startsmall.

What Jack Dorsey teaches (and what to take from it)

Dorsey’s approach is unusual enough to be worth studying. These are four practical lessons, in our own words.

Take ownership instead of salary

A $2.75 paycheck sounds like a stunt, but it means his money is tied to the company’s value. If you are choosing between a higher salary and equity or profit share you can verify, ask how the upside is calculated. Write down the real value of your equity or share offer this week.

Use voting control to protect long-term bets

Class B shares give him 42 percent of the votes on 8 percent of the equity. Control lets a founder keep building when markets lose patience. If you run something, decide what you must keep control of, and share the rest.

Cut to the core when the model changes

The 2026 layoffs reduced the company by roughly 40 to 50 percent so it could rebuild around AI tools. Harsh as it was, the lesson for any team is to review what is needed when the tools change. List three tasks in your own work that a tool could do and test one this week.

Commit your giving the same way you commit your investing

He set aside roughly $1 billion and published a spreadsheet of where it went. Pledging early and tracking the outflow makes the plan real. Decide a giving percentage this week and automate it.
