Jared Leto is an American actor, singer-songwriter, and director and his current net worth is $40 million.
Born in Bossier City, Louisiana, his parents divorced when he was a child. He and his older brother lived with their mother. His father committed suicide when Jared was eight years old.
His family moved a lot since his mother’s father was in the Air Force.
Constance, their mother, encouraged him and his brother, Shannon Leto, to get involved in the arts. The two of them were raised to celebrate their artistic expression. Jared and Shannon started playing music at an early age and their first instrument was a broken-down piano.
He dropped out of high school only to return shortly and focus on his education in Washington, D.C.
He enrolled in the University of Arts in Philadelphia because of his interest in visual art. Later on he developed an interest in filmmaking and transferred to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. That is where he wrote and starred in Crying Joy, his own short film.

In 1992 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue directing and acting. His first break came with the well-reviewed ABC teen drama My So-Called Life in 1994 opposite Claire Danes.
In the following years more film roles came his way, but his breakthrough performance came in 1997 in Prefontaine. He played the Olympic Steve Prefontaine and got positive reviews for the way he immersed himself in the character.
The next year, Jared starred in Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line. The movie was a moderate success at the box office and it received seven Academy Award nominations.
Him and his brother formed the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars in 1998 and eventually they signed with Immortal Records.
In 1999 he starred in Fight Club, in Girl, Interrupted and in Black and White next to Robert Downey Jr.
His performance as the rival of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho garnered him more roles in well received movies. He worked with director Darren Aronofsky, playing a heroin addict in Requiem for a Dream.
