Meg Ryan is an American actress, director, and producer and her current net worth is $40 million.
Born and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, as the daughter of former actress and English teacher, Susan Jordan, and math teacher Harry Hyra, her parents raised her Roman Catholic.
Growing up, she attended St. Pius X Elementary School in Fairfield.
At 15, her parents divorced and in 1979 she graduated from Bethel High School.
First at the University of Connecticut she went to study journalism as an undergraduate, and then at New York University.
While there, she acted in television commercials as well as soap opera As the World Turns to make extra cash.
Thanks to her success as an actress, she dropped out of college a semester before she would have graduated.
She used the surname Ryan, her grandmother’s maiden name, when she joined the Screen Actors Guild.
Ryan made her film debut in George Cukor’s Rich and Famous. After which, she appeared in daytime drama As the World Turns, playing Betsy Stewart.
Right around that time, she appeared in a Burger King commercial.
Then several television and smaller film roles followed, such as Charles in Charge, Armed and Dangerous, among others.
In 1986 she appeared alongside Anthony Edwards in Top Gun, where she played his wife.
