Mukesh Ambani is an Indian business magnate and his current net worth is $35.3 billion.
Born in Aden, Colony of Aden, now Yemen, to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani, he has two sisters and a younger brother.
His family lived in a modest two-bedroom apartment in Bhuleshwar, Mumbai, and now they live in a 14-floor apartment block called Sea Wind in Colaba.
Growing up, he attended the Hill Grange High School at Peddar Road, Mumbai, alongside his brother.
He graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga and received a BE degree in chemical engineering.
Later he went for an MBA at Stanford University but dropped out to help his father build Reliance. He started Reliance’s backward integration from textiles into polyester fibers and further into petrochemicals, from 1981.
The branch he started Reliance Infocomm Limited, now Reliance Communication Limited, focused on information and communication technology initiatives.
Since he directed and led the manufacturer of the largest grassroots petroleum refinery in the world, located at Jamnagar, India. In 2013, the company had the capacity of producing 666,000 barrels per day.
Furthermore, he announced the possibility of a collaborative venture with Kharti Airtel in creating a digital infrastructure for the 4G network in India.
Therefore, three years later he created its own 4G smartphone brand named LYF, which quickly became India’s third-largest-selling mobile phone brand.
He is now the holder of 44.7% stake in Reliance Industries Limited, India’s second-most valuable company by market value.
In addition, Ambani is also the chairman, and managing director of the same company.
As for his personal life, he is married to Nita Ambani, with whom he has two sons, Anant and Akash, and a daughter, Isha. He lives at the Antilia Building, one of the most expensive private residences, with a value of almost $1 billion.
Forbes ranked him #38 on their list of world’s most powerful people, making him the only Indian business man ranked. Seems like he doesn’t want to live the position, hence he made it again into Forbes’ list.
For ten years, he has consistently held the title of India’s richest person as of 2016.
