Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, as the son of jazz musician, Marino Dallolio, and Ann, a homemaker, he started investing at age of 12.
As a young investor, he bought shares in Northeast Airlines for $300, and tripled his investment after the airline merged with another company.
Growing up, he received a bachelor’s degree in finance from Long Island University (CW Post), as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Upon graduation, he worked on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. While there, he invested in commodity futures.
After a while, he worked at Dominick & Dominick LLC, as the Director of Commodities.

He became a futures trader and broker at Shearson Hayden Stone, later in his career. Then in 1975, he founded, from his apartment, the investment management firm, Bridgewater Associates.

The 30-minute-video has over 4 million views and has been translated and made available in several countries, including Japan, China, and Russia.
He has also appeared on the annual Time 100 list of the 100 Most Influential people in the world.

Currently he lives with his wife Barbara, whom he married in 1976/1977, in Greenwich. They have four sons.
Their second son is the founder and chairman of the China Care Foundation. The non-profit foundation aims to help Chinese orphans. The son, is also the CEO of Endless Mobile, a smartphone software company.
