How much is Valentino Rossi worth in 2026?

We estimate $190 million, in a range of $130 million to $240 million. The racing years are the base, and press estimates exist for a good part of them, but what he actually kept after tax is our assumption. So are his stakes in the VR46 companies, because no ownership split is public. Euros convert at 0.894 to the dollar, the rate on November 3, 2026.

Public estimates cluster near $200 million. The gap comes down to how much of the gross survives. Forbes estimated $275 million over ten years, but that was before tax, and riders also pay managers and staff. Company revenue isn’t personal money either: five VR46 companies with €38.5 million in 2022 revenue made a combined loss.

How Valentino Rossi built it

  • Turned a race number into a business. VR46 Racing Apparel sells rider merchandise and had 39 employees in 2025.
  • Stayed in racing after retiring. Since retiring he has run the VR46 MotoGP team and kept racing GT cars.
  • Sold rivals' merchandise too. A 2014 report said his firm sold gear for nine other MotoGP riders, Marc Marquez included.

How we got to $190 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Racing and sponsors, the ten years to 2015 $124 million Forbes estimated $275 million in 2015 from salaries and sponsors. Our assumption: he kept 45 percent after all tax, managers and team costs.
Racing and sponsors, 2016 to 2021 $41 million Our assumption: $15 million annually across six seasons, at the same 45 percent. Forbes put 2013 at about $22 million, including a $12 million Yamaha salary, and we assume it fell from there.
Racing and sponsors, 2000 to 2004 $14 million Our assumption: $6 million in each of five years, at 45 percent. Money before 2000 is left out.
Personal deals since retiring $7 million Our assumption: $3 million a year for 2022 to 2026 at 45 percent. No figure is public.
VR46 Team stake $20 million Our assumption: six times average profit. Profit was €4.2 million in 2024 and €1.69 million in 2025, an average of €2.9 million, so about €17.7 million. We credit him with all of it.
VR46 Racing Apparel stake $11 million Equity was about €11 million at the end of 2024. Less the 2025 loss, about €10 million. We credit him with all of it, and this is book value, not a sale price.
Spending minus $68 million Our assumption: $2.5 million annually for 27 years, covering homes, cars and everything else.
Returns on savings $42 million Our assumption: 3 percent a year after tax on an average $70 million for 20 years.
Total $191 million The rows sum to $191 million, which we round to $190 million.

One peak season against the whole team

Press estimates had his best years at about $35 million, in 2008 and 2009. VR46 Team’s 2025 net profit of €1.69 million is about $1.9 million. By our calculation, one of those peak seasons equals about 18.5 years of the team’s 2025 profit, before he paid tax on either. The team had revenue of about €25.2 million that year, which sounds like a much bigger business than it is for its owner.

Even with generous assumptions, the two companies we value come to $31 million, or 16 percent of our total. The rest is money he earned on a motorcycle, kept and put to work.

The T-shirt business got smaller as it got bigger

A 2014 report gave VR46 Racing €8 million in turnover and 26 employees, and it was selling gear for nine rival riders, Marc Marquez among them. By 2025 the apparel company had €7.7 million in revenue and 39 employees. Our sums: €308,000 per employee then, about €197,000 now. Revenue was almost €21 million in 2017, so the 2025 figure is 63 percent lower. Corse di Moto reported heavy discounting to clear stock, and In Sella reported that the company had forecast €9.8 million for the year.

The music channel is the part growing, on a tour deal for Cesare Cremonini that runs through 2026. A rider’s merchandise firm with a pop singer’s tour as its bright spot is an odd outcome for the most recognisable number in motorcycle racing, though the warehouse doesn’t care whose face is on the shirt.

What he does now, and what would move the figure

He retired from MotoGP after 2021 and kept racing cars: a BMW M4 GT3 for Team WRT in the World Endurance Championship through 2025, then a full season in GT World Challenge Europe for 2026. No pay for any of that has been published. His MotoGP team runs Ducatis, and Corse di Moto reported in July 2026 that Fabio Di Giannantonio is leaving for KTM, with Fermin Aldeguer and Nicolò Bulega coming in. A sale of the team would settle the biggest assumption on this page. So would a published shareholder list, since any partner’s share comes straight off our $31 million.
