4- Abandoned Apartment Contains Rare Painting
In an apartment abandoned for 70 years a panting by artist Giovanni Boldini was discovered.
The owner of the abandoned apartment had left Paris before WWII began, but kept up with the payments on it despite never returning to it.
At her death in 2010, experts had to enter the home to count down all the items and belongings. Several expensive items were recovered beneath layers of dust but the painting got everyone’s attention.
The painting was eventually evaluated and sold for $2.5 million.
Although they suspected it may have been by Boldini they could find no mention of the painting in any records.
But after searching the home further they found a note signed by Boldini himself that confirmed the painting was authentic.
