Prada is Selling $185 Paperclip and the Internet Can’t Handle it!
Prada is selling $185 paperclip and the internet is making a lot of fun about it!
The truth is their paperclip is an over-sized paperclip-shaped money clip. It just a more expensive and fancier version of the paperclips you already own.
It is understandable because Prada is a luxury brand, which is why the grand price.
Luxury brands tend to charge a lot of money for any kind of objects, because the name is what matters.
You can buy a box of paperclips from the dollar store, but it won’t have the name of the luxury brand.
In today’s society, we are so crazy about showing off our material status to everyone. Heck there is even an app that doesn’t do anything but say “I’m rich”.
So it is understandable if anyone would buy their paperclip is someone with a lot of money at their disposal.
But let’s be real for a moment! Leaving the irony of spending a lot of money for a paperclip designed for money, think about the paperclip objectively.
Is this paperclip performing a function better than another, less expensive object?
Of course not, it’s just a paperclip.
Because is made of silver doesn’t mean it holds your money better than the less expensive version.
And if you think about it, silver tarnishes over time and isn’t as strong as gold.

There is also the shape of the paperclip. It is totally impractical to fit inside your wallet. But now that you’ve got a paperclip that holds money, maybe give up the wallet?
The clip is 6.25 centimeters in length and 2.25 centimeters in width.
Did the brand really needed to make this and take this kind of heat? Not really.
As expected, Twitter has already asked all kind of questions about this thing, and even made a lot of jokes about it.

But hold your horses because we know that they are not the only ones who came under fire. Remember that handbag that looks like the IKEA tote? And Channel’s boomerang?
Barneys also offers their own paper clip for a mere $150.

If you think $185 is too much for a paperclip, just know that the shipping is free.
