11. Carlos Beltrán – Net worth $80 million
Currently with the New York Yankees, at the height of his career Beltrán had the highest on-base plus slugging (OPS) record, higher than even Babe Ruth, undoubtedly the most famous though not one of the richest baseball players.
The New York Mets signed Beltrán in 2005, offering him a $119 million contract. This was the tenth baseball contract in history to pass the $100 million. His 2005-2006 season didn’t last long though, after a series injury left him with concussion and two broken cheekbones. His career recovered well, however, and he went on to reach 400 home runs and 2,500 hits by 2016.
Beltrán uses his wealth for a variety of philanthropic causes and dedicates a portion of his earnings to funding high school programmes which help to develop young athletes.
