7. Liberty Media (Estimated Value: $13.5 billion)
Last Formula 1 season was also a huge milestone to the sport’s business. Liberty Media bought the Formula One Group for $4.4 billion. Taken over from Bernie Ecclestone’s hands by the American company, Formula 1 Gran Prix most likely will go through several changes.
One of the biggest changes is the fact that the F1 billionaire will no longer be the key person of this motorsport. However, Mr. E will still be around to guide this new company in understanding how things work through the eyes and hands of the new F1 chairman, Chase Carey.
Liberty Media was founded in 1994 as a spin-off from Tele-Communications Inc. of the United States. It focuses on broadcasting, movie-TV production, and now sport management. More than three thousand employees work for the company. And according to Forbes, its market cap reaches $13.5 billion.
Technically as the owner of Formula 1, Liberty can alter this sport however the company likes. Let’s hope whatever the decisions will be, they will make Formula 1 great again.
