#1 is the Chariman of the Dalian Wanda Group, one of China’s largest real estate developers and world’s largest operator of movie theaters. Born on October 24, 1954, Wang Jianlin owns 75 department stores, 85 shopping plazas and 51 5-star hotels.
In 1970, he entered the military until 1986 when he took a city government job in Dalian, in Liaoning Province.
Three years later, in 1989, he became Chairman of Wanda Group.
In 2012, he bought the U.S. movie chain AMC, and later listed it on the New York Stock Exchange.
Last year, Wang Jianlin brought to China Leonardo DiCaprio and John Travolta and launched an $8 billion mini-Hollywood in the coastal city of Qingdao.
