9. Alisher Usmanov – $18.8 billion
The richest man in Russia, Alisher Usmanov became rich due to his business in the metal industry (iron ore and steel) and now he wants to try his luck in telecommunication and he already owns Megaphone, Russia’s #2 mobile phone operator.
Beside his revenue from working with metals and telecommunications he also owns a stake in British football team FC Arsenal.
Luck was the thing he needed, because he had enough money, but it seems that for him its not enough. In 2013 he formed USM Holdings, a business which divided with billionaire partners Andrey Skoch and Farhad Moshiri, using almost all his fortune.
After a while the partners sold all the shares in Facebook and then they bought and sold a stake in Apple for substantial profit.
With that kind of investments, it’s no wonder that he is one of the richest people in Europe.
