Elon Musk is the richest billionaire in the world in October 2026, with about $1.21 trillion in Tesla and SpaceX stock. We built this top 10 from share counts in company filings multiplied by closing prices on 23 October 2026 (26 October for euro-listed stocks), not from anyone else’s ranking. Cash, private businesses and real estate are not included unless stated, so each figure is a floor, except the two marked as estimates.

1. Elon Musk: Net worth $1.21 trillion
Elon Musk is the first person to pass a trillion dollars on our model. SpaceX is the bulk of it. Tesla, which he leads as CEO, supplies the rest. Some of his Tesla shares are pledged as collateral for personal loans.
How we valued it: His Tesla proxy lists 699.6 million shares beneficially owned, including restricted shares that remain subject to forfeiture conditions, worth $260 billion at $372.22. SpaceX, which listed on Nasdaq in June 2026 at $135 a share, lists him with 849.5 million Class A and 5.57 billion Class B shares, 6.42 billion in total, worth $947 billion at $147.49. That includes about 1 billion Class B shares that vest only on market-value milestones. Total: about $1.21 trillion before options. Without the milestone shares it would be nearer $1.06 trillion.
2. Larry Page: Net worth about $245 billion (estimate)
Larry Page co-founded Google and still holds 27.4% of Alphabet’s voting power. He is a director and chairs the executive committee.
How we valued it: Alphabet’s April 2026 proxy lists 389.1 million Class B shares, which is $124.6 billion at $320.21. His non-voting Class C shares are not in the table and we found no filing for them, so we assume a Class C count close to his Class B count, as Brin’s filed holdings show, which adds about $123 billion at $317.28. The Class B alone is a floor of $125 billion.
3. Sergey Brin: Net worth $229 billion
Sergey Brin is Page’s co-founder and holds 25.3% of the voting power. The two founders together control more than half of Alphabet’s votes.
How we valued it: The same proxy shows 358.9 million Class B shares plus 37,469 Class A, $114.9 billion at $320.21. His August 7, 2026 Form 4 shows 359.2 million Class C shares, $114.0 billion at $317.28. Total: about $229 billion.
4. Mark Zuckerberg: Net worth $220 billion
Mark Zuckerberg controls about 61% of Meta’s voting power through Class B shares, so no outside shareholder can remove him. A small slice of the stake, 12 million shares, is pledged against a loan.
How we valued it: Meta’s April 2026 proxy lists 342.5 million shares beneficially owned (639,347 Class A and 341.8 million Class B). At $642.62 that is $220 billion. The total includes shares held through his philanthropic entities.
5. Jeff Bezos: Net worth $219 billion
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 and is now executive chair. He has been selling Amazon stock in blocks to fund Blue Origin and other ventures, so his share count falls over time.
How we valued it: Amazon’s April 2026 proxy credits him with 950.4 million shares, 8.8% of the company, of which 68.2 million carry voting power but no investment power. We count the other 882.2 million shares at $248 each, which is $218.8 billion. Blue Origin and cash from past share sales are not included.
6. Jensen Huang: Net worth $184 billion
Huang co-founded Nvidia in 1993 and has led it since. His shares sit mostly in family trusts, which is why the filing shows several holding entities.
How we valued it: Nvidia’s May 2026 proxy shows 870.6 million shares beneficially owned, 3.58% of the company, including about 58.7 million held by the family foundation. At $210.96 that is $183.7 billion. Without the foundation shares it would be $171 billion.
7. Steve Ballmer: Net worth about $175 billion (estimate)
Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 with a salary of $50,000 plus a share of profits, and later received an 8% stake in the company. He led Microsoft as CEO and now owns the LA Clippers.
How we valued it: Ballmer no longer files ownership reports as a Microsoft insider, so this share count does not come from a filing. Reporting puts his stake at roughly 333 million shares. At $524.51 that is about $174.7 billion, before his sports team and other assets.
8. Warren Buffett: Net worth $160 billion
Warren Buffett turned 95 in 2025 and handed the CEO role to Greg Abel at the end of that year. He remains chairman and controlling shareholder, with 38.4% of the voting power.
How we valued it: Berkshire’s March 2026 proxy shows him with 196,317 Class A shares, at $813,595 each, worth $159.7 billion, plus a small Class B holding. Because he gives stock away every year, we use the current count, not older ones.
9. Larry Ellison: Net worth $146 billion
Larry Ellison co-founded Oracle in 1977 and is now executive chair and chief technology officer.
How we valued it: Oracle’s September 2026 proxy credits him with 1.158 billion shares, 38.2% of the company. At $126.16 that is $146 billion. The beneficial-ownership figure can include shares tied to options and pledges, so treat it as a ceiling on stock alone.
10. Michael Dell: Net worth $121 billion
Dell started his company in 1984 as a student and took Dell private in 2013 in a buyout reported at $25 billion. He is chairman and chief executive of Dell Technologies, formed in 2016 through the EMC deal.
How we valued it: Per Dell’s filing, it lists 246,834,081 Class A shares and 18,840,608 Class C shares, 265.67 million in total. At $456.44 that is about $121.3 billion, before his family office.
Just outside the top 10
Bernard Arnault and his family hold about $108 billion of LVMH: the family owned 50.01% of its 497.7 million shares in early 2026, which is about EUR 96.5 billion at EUR 387.60, or $108 billion at 1.12 dollars per euro. Rob, Jim and Alice Walton are each worth about $105 billion on our estimate: the Walton family holding companies own 3.52 billion Walmart shares, worth $421 billion at $119.89, which we split evenly across the four branches of Sam Walton’s heirs. Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg are each in the same range at about $105 billion, but both are estimates, because Gates’s Cascade Investment and Bloomberg L.P. are private and no filing sizes them.

Our estimates are based on public reporting, company valuations, and deal and earnings figures all compiled in an internal valuation model. They are approximate, and figures change over time as new information emerges.
