2.Liliane Bettencourt – $37 billion
Liliane is no longer the richest woman in the world, (you can see the top here) although her wealth has grown this year thanks to the French cosmetic giant’s stock price rising up 9% since last year.
However, she is no longer involved in running the company her father founded, since 2012 she was replaced by her grandson Jean-Victor Meyer.
The Bettencourt family is set to strengthen its hold on the L’Oreal Empire in 2014 thanks to Swiss consumer goods giant Nestle’s planned sale of its 8% stake. That will raise the family’s holdings to 33%.
Now she is one of the richest people in Europe with a net worth estimated at 37 billion dollars.
