The third generation to run Suntory, a family beverage business, Nobutada Saji is the CEO and chairman of the company his grandfather founded.
The company has gone through a major reconstruction. Suntory spun off its nonalcoholic drinks and food business, Suntory Beverage & Food, raising $4 billion. The remaining spirits business merged with U.S. Beam, purveyor of Maker’s Mark, in a $16 billion deal.
Even though it was rumored that Nobutanda would step down from leading the company, he maintains 8.9% stake, him sharing the fortune with another 18 relatives.
