With a net worth of $34.7 billion, Li Ka-shing is one of the most powerful figures in Asia, named ‘Asia’s Most Powerful Man, Li Ka-Ching’ by ‘Asiaweek’.
He is one self-made billionaire. At the age 12, he quit school and started to work in a watch-strap factory.
2 years later Li was working full-time in a plastic trading company.
And in 1950 he started his own business, producing plastic toys. Li’s first company was named Cheung Kong, after the Yangtze River.
Today, Li is the Chairman of the Board of HWL (Hutchison Whampoa Limited), and Cheung Kong Holdings, and probably he is the only person who invested in Facebook as a high-stake hobby.
He bet on Facebook, through his charitable Li Ka Shing Foundation.
