6. Audi Quattro
Sixth on the list and next in line, is yet another classic car manufactured by the German automaker Audi, the Quattro.
The car was first shown at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show, and the production of the original version continued through 1991.
Jörg Bensinger, an Audi’s chassis engineer, proposed the idea for a high-performance four-wheel-drive car in 1977, when he found out that the Volkswagen Iltis could outperform any other vehicle in snow, no matter how powerful.
The original model was fitted with a 2.1 L inline-5-cylinder 10 valve SOHC engine with a turbocharger and intercooler.
And it produced 197 bhp at 3500 rpm, making the Quattro speeding from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.1 seconds, and reaching a top speed of over 220 km/h (137 mph).
Over the period 1980–1991, the German manufacturer produced the Audi Quattro in about 11,452 units.
