Ten Luxury Race Cars For The Rich

4. SSC Ultimate Aero

On the number four, and next in line, we have a mid-engined sports car that was produced by SSC North America from 2006 until 2013.

According to the Guinness World Records, from 2007, the SSC Ultimate Aero held the title of the fastest production car in the world.

When it was officially timed, the SSC Ultimate Aero recorded a top speed of 256.14 mph (412.22 km/h), but was surpassed by Bugatti Veyron Super Sport in 2010.

Fitted with a  Supercharged 6,188 cc Chevrolet Corvette C5R V8 engine, and developing a power output 908 hp, the car could accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 2.78 seconds.

According to Jerod Shelby, the “Early design philosophy on the car was to make it a driver’s car. I wanted a car that you not only throttled with your right foot but at times you could steer with your right foot.”
