What is the Burkehill House?
It is a family home in Vancouver, set in grounds that open up long views toward the horizon. The architects did not start from a blank lot: they renovated an existing house and turned it into a modern West Coast residence.
That style leans on big windows, natural materials and a close relationship with the outdoors, which suits a city with mountains on one side and water on the other. The result is built for a young, active family rather than for show.
