The Bridal Trend of the Moment is Beyond Imagination!
Sure, the wedding day is all about standing out and wearing something that will still be memorable even after years when you’re looking through your wedding photo album.
And nowadays, the classic wedding gown is kind of over. Various trends have popped out lately among brides all over the world – from separate pieces to elegant jumpsuits promoted by Solange Knowles, all in search for that uniqueness every bride’s looking for.
But now, a new bridal trend is on the rise and it’s beyond anyone’s imagination: wedding shorts. Yes, you’ve read that well, ladies, wedding shorts.
But how could this possibly become a trend?
I’ll take a shot and “blame” the famous style icon Olivia Palermo. Last year, our beloved fashionista tied the knot and made us forget about the classic wedding gown. The diva wore a Carolina Herrera set featuring a sweater, a pair of shorts and embroidered tulle. So, ladies, as you can see this was the first appearance of fancy shorts on a wedding scene and it’s all thanks to Olivia Palermo.
After that, the rest is history and the first one to follow the trend was the popular American retailer J. Crew.
The brand has already been doing separates and rompers for their bridal section, but for Spring 2015 they introduced the ivory-colored Laine sequin shorts at $450 a pair. Molly Schaul, J. Crew’s director of wedding design, explains why this trend caught up so fast amongst the soon-to-be brides:
A lot of modern brides are always looking for something that will allow them to take a risk and be unique at their weddings but still keep that timeless aesthetic so they’ll be happy looking back at their photographs in twenty years.
But she’s not the only expert standing up for this new trend. I think we all know the famous hit show “Say Yes to the Dress”, right?
Well, Terry Hall is the fashion director of the store which stands as the show’s setting. She told Mellisa Rycroft from “Good Morning America” about how the wedding day is the one day a woman has to give her best when it comes to her fashion sense. Further more, she explained why wedding shorts shouldn’t be looked at like a casual outfit:
When you hear shorts you think casual. It doesn’t have to be casual – it depends on the fabrication, construction, artistic detail, maybe it’s embellished, but you can really make it quite dressy.
And while this trend may seem a little weird, if you think about it a little bit more, you’ll find a lot of benefits from it. You’ll definitely feel way more comfortable because we all know the wedding dresses are famous for torturing your body. And beside that, this is a clothing item that can and will be worn again and it’s suitable for numerous occasions.
So, if you’re planning a wedding this spring or summer, the wedding shorts might just be the best choice for a beach wedding or a reception on a grassy hilltop.
