6. The Emo Style in Russia
If you are into Goth and Emo clothing and you are planning on visiting Russia, you might need to consider a change of look and style because Russians have a law against the Goth and Emo clothing.
Is a bit stupid if you ask me, but again, here is not about me is about the Goth and Emo clothing and about the people who have that style and have to endore that law.
No Goth and Emo style is allowed in the public spaces, schools and government buildings. Why you may ask? Because it seems that the emo kids wear a lot of black, facial piercings and black hair to hide half of their face.
The Russian government feels that the trend is dangerous for teenagers, encouraging anti-social behavior, depression, and suicide. They even went as far as to refer to the style as “a threat to national stability.” In 2008, Russia banned Goth and Emo music, as well as all clothing styles related to the trend.
