The Awesome Apartment Of Tumblr Founder David Karp It’s Not What You Would Expect!
I bet you all know what Tumblr is and how it works, and we are delighted to show you the insides and present you the super cool apartment of Tumblr founder, the young and amazing David Karp!
After selling Tumblr to Yahoo for the mind blowing price of $1.1 billion (in cash), the 27 years old Karp is now a very young and rich man.
And if you expected him to have a luxurious home just like all the rich kids have, you were wrong.
His industrial but modern apartment is something to fell in love with. Just like you see in the Tumblr pictures!
If you thought his apartment will be filled with the latest technology, all screens and computers everywhere, you were, once again, wrong.
The apartment has an edgy vintage look with rough surfaces such as ancient bricks, weathered concrete, blackened steel and reclaimed oak.
The apartment is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and it doesn’t have that futuristic minimalist look we all probably expected.
The newest-looking machine in the house is the metal carcass of a classic 1969 Honda CB160 motorcycle, apparently in the midst of a living-room repair job.
Karp is a big fan of classic motorcycles, which are naked machines, all working parts exposed.
John Gachot, the principal designer who worked with Karp, compares the loft to a submarine and says the apartment is built with analog technology.
“I don’t like screens very much, big bright monitors drive me nuts”
“Screens in the bedroom are gross”
“I don’t want our house doing very much”
“It’s very open and honest”
“Everything is exposed, and you can see all the connections”
“I get so nauseated when I see these big glassy things”
Karp about Tumblr:
“here’s your vanilla white profile page: now fill in your interests, add your friends”
Karp about Google:
“no one at Google spends time thinking about how to make their office park ‘authentic’. They want it to be awesome, with robots, driverless cars, that kind of stuff”

So what do you think of this cool apartment? Is that what you expected the apartment of Tumblr founder to look like?
We definitely love it!
We hope you enjoyed our article and don’t forget to share the awesomeness with your friends!
