World’s Most Expensive Coffee

Wondering what’s the World’s Most Expensive Coffee? Well you’re in the right place!

Most of us rely on coffee to get our internal engines going and we’re accustomed to grabbing coffee from our corner store or the well-known Starbucks.

Although there are many coffee shops and coffee brands on the market these days, there is nothing out there that compares to what you’re about to read and maybe even try.

This is coffee taken to the rank of luxury to be enjoyed only by those that are worth it. Here’s the world’s most expensive coffee:

The World’s Most Expensive Coffee is: Kopi Luwak from Indonesia and a cup goes for $50-90.

Kopi is the Indonesian word that stands for coffee.

Luwak is the local name for this animal:

I present you: The Wold’s Most Expensive Barista – The Luwak or Paradoxurus(which is the official name).

If you haven’t figured it out by now, the coffee is the result of this furry guy’s digestive system. The Luwak’s are known for eating raw coffee beans,  the civet digests the soft part of the coffee fruit, yet does not digest the inner beans ( the actual coffee beans ) and excretes them. Through this process the enzymes remove the bitter taste and add an unique flavor to the beans. The locals collect them and then they are sold.

Because of the rarity of process and the distinct flavor, these beans cost as much as $1000 a pound and can vary from $50-90 per cup.

To taste such an exquisite beverage an appointment is necessary with one of the few establishments that carry such an exotic blend.

Here’s a video featured on Animal Planet about this extraordinary experience.
