FAQ

Can you really buy a yacht for under $1 million in 2026?

Yes. Used motor yachts of 55 to 72 feet and used 40 to 42 foot catamarans are listed under $1 million, with asking prices from about $275,000 to $950,000 in our list.

How big a yacht does $1 million buy?

On the listings we saw, up to about 70 to 72 feet for older motor yachts, such as the Hatteras 70 at $720,000 and the Ferretti 72 at $921,400.

What does it cost to run a yacht?

Purchase price is only part of the cost. Fuel, dockage, insurance, crew and maintenance add up every year, and older boats usually need refits. We did not find a single reliable figure, so get a surveyor and a quote from the marina.

Are these prices final?

No. They are broker asking prices from 2026 listings, often negotiable, and some are shown in euros or pounds and converted. Check each listing before you rely on it.

Why are older yachts so cheap?

Age, engine hours and refit needs. Many boats here were built between 1996 and 2009. A newer boat, like the 2023 Fountaine Pajot, costs far more per foot.

What happened to the yachts on your old list?

The boats from our earlier list, such as Rendezvous, Bluebird of Happiness and Attila V, were individual listings from years ago, and we could not confirm they are for sale now, so we replaced them with current listings.

How we put this list together

We collected asking prices from broker and marketplace listings in 2026 and ranked them by price. Listings change quickly and some were in euros or pounds, so treat every figure as a snapshot.
