Zaha Hadid Designs Two Residential Towers for Australia
The Hadid architects created two residential towers for Australia Gold Coast.
The architects just unveiled how the pair of proposed sculptural skyscrapers for Mariner’s Cove will look like.
The London-based architect has been appointed by Australian developer Sunland Group to create the pair of towers as part of the redevelopment of Mariner’s Cove, best known as the home of the Sea World resort.
The two towers have been designed in a special way, with Hadid’s signature sinuous forms all over it.
The two 44-story-tall mixed used towers have this special twist: at the bottom they are tapered to minimize the building footprint.
What’s the future of this project?
Called Queensland towers they share a striking resemblance to Zaha Hadid’s trio of ‘blossoming’ Brisbane towers that were designed by Sunland Group, the same guys who developed Mariner’s Cove project.
The developers of this project, Sunland Group, state that these towers will soon become the city’s new cultural precinct dedicated to arts and style.
The project is set atop a curved podium, and the sculptural skyscrapers are clad in curved glass.
What will the building include?
The eye-catching towers will include 370 apartments, ground floor retail, a 69-suite boutique hotel, underground aquarium, art gallery, museum, and the best part, outdoor sculpture gardens.
Featuring a stunning design that seems to come to life, the incredible pair of towers is Hadid’s second Australian skyscraper design. Its estimated costs are around AU $600 million.
Their first project being a trio of skyscrapers designed for Brisbane’s riverfront that could also come to life.
“Each residential tower is designed as if it were an organic, living form, with sinuous lines interlacing upwards from the tapered base, creating a sense of flow and movement. This vibrancy is further brought to life by the reflection and interaction of the glass facade with its stunning Broadwater setting,” said Sunland Managing Director, Sahba Abedian.
“The museum’s sweeping organic forms reflect the landscape of its unique location, symbolic of the dunal shapes distinctive to the Broadwater.”
The towers were clearly designed with a sense of flow and movement, featuring sculptural curved glass forms.
Considering the exquisite overall design and the stunning views these towers will provide, Hadid’s work will surely be appreciated by everybody.
The project was created for the redevelopment of Mariner’s Cove and is currently awaiting planning approval.
What’s next for Zaha Hadid?
Hadid is also currently making her plans for a 215-metre-high tower in Miami, and recently completed a trio of pebble-shaped towers in Beijing.
