Best Luxury Hotels in Monaco: Top 10 for 2026

The best luxury hotel in Monaco in 2026 is the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the only Monaco hotel with Three MICHELIN Keys. It kept that rating in the 2025 selection, its second year at the top, and Le Louis XV by Alain Ducasse inside it holds three Michelin stars. Five of the ten hotels below are in the Principality itself. The other five sit just across the French border, and the table says which is which.

Rank Hotel Where Michelin Keys
1 Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo Monaco 3
2 Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France 3
3 Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo Monaco 2
4 The Maybourne Riviera Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France 2
5 Château Eza Èze, France 2
6 Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo Monaco 1
7 Royal Riviera Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France 1
8 Fairmont Monte Carlo Monaco Not listed
9 Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort Monaco Not listed
10 Monte-Carlo Beach Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France Not listed

How we ranked: Michelin Keys first, since they are the only official hotel rating for the area. Ties are broken by history and by how central the hotel is to Monaco life. Hotels with no Key in the listings we checked sit at the bottom.

1. Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo: Three Keys

The Hôtel de Paris opened in 1864 on Place du Casino and reopened in March 2019 after a $280 million renovation that took more than four years. It has about 99 rooms in four price categories. Its restaurants include Le Louis XV (three Michelin stars) and Le Grill (one star), plus Le Bar Américain and Em Sherif.

How we valued it: Only Three Key hotel in Monaco, and Le Louis XV was the first hotel restaurant to win three Michelin stars.

2. Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel: Three Keys

Built from 1908 on a promontory at the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula, this palace holds Three Keys and the French “Palace” distinction granted in 2011. It sits in France, a short drive from Monaco.

How we valued it: Second Three Key hotel within reach of Monaco, placed behind our number 1 because it is outside the Principality.

3. Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo: Two Keys

The Hotel Metropole at 4 Avenue de la Madone was built in 1889. It has 126 guest rooms, 64 of them suites. It closed for a first phase of renovation in November 2020 and reopened in April 2021, and it holds Two Keys.

How we valued it: Metropole is the highest-rated hotel in Monaco after the Hôtel de Paris.

4. The Maybourne Riviera: Two Keys

The Maybourne Riviera is a modernist cliffside hotel at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin with 69 rooms and an infinity pool carved into the cliff. It belongs to the group behind Claridge’s and The Connaught, and the guide lists Monaco restaurants such as Elsa and Robuchon Monaco nearby.

How we valued it: Maybourne earns Two Keys and has the most modern design of the group.

5. Château Eza: Two Keys

Château Eza is a boutique hotel in the hilltop village of Èze, about 4.5 km west of Monaco, with Two Keys. It was number 10 on our first list.

How we valued it: Eza is a village hotel that keeps two Keys among much larger palaces.

6. Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo: One Key

The hotel was built from 1890 to 1896 in Belle Époque style, with Gustave Eiffel involved in the design, and overlooks the harbour. It has 278 rooms including 35 suites and junior suites and eight Monte-Carlo Diamond Suites. The Michelin Guide lists it with One Key. The first version of this list ranked it number 1, but the official rating now puts it behind the hotels above.

How we valued it: Hermitage still has its Eiffel-designed Winter Garden dome, but it is a Key behind the leaders.

7. Royal Riviera: One Key

Royal Riviera in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat holds One Key. It was number 9 on our first list. We could not confirm up-to-date room counts, so we leave them out.

How we valued it: Royal Riviera has one Key and a Cap-Ferrat setting.

8. Fairmont Monte Carlo: Rebuilt for Its 50th Year

The Fairmont sits at the famous hairpin turn of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit and opened in August 1975 as the Loews Monte-Carlo. It was renovated in 2024, with redesigned rooms and suites, and its Nobu restaurant reopened in 2025.

How we valued it: Fairmont is central and recently refreshed, but we found no Key for it in the listings we checked.

9. Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort: The Resort Option

Owned by the Société des Bains de Mer, the resort opened in 2005 with 334 rooms over ten floors. Its pool runs the length of a 5-acre garden into a sandy-bottomed lagoon. It won a 2019 award for best hotel pool in Europe.

How we valued it: This is the resort option, with a 5-acre garden and a lagoon pool.

10. Monte-Carlo Beach: A Mahdavi Redesign

Built in 1929 and redesigned by India Mahdavi in 2009, the Monte-Carlo Beach has 40 rooms, 14 of them suites, and three restaurants: The Deck, Elsa and La Vigie. Despite its name it is in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France. A 2025 trade report said it reopened that April with a new restaurant.

How we valued it: It is the best small beach hotel on the list, though we found no Key in its listing.

What changed since the first list?

Vista Palace and Le Méridien Beach Plaza left the list because we could not confirm their current status or rating. Château Eza, Royal Riviera, the Hermitage, the Metropole, the Fairmont and Monte-Carlo Bay stay. The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat and The Maybourne Riviera join, and the three Key and two Key hotels now lead on the strength of their Keys.
