Just 30 minutes from the center of Venice, this place is located on historic Torcello island and it was opened in 1938.
It was created by Giuseppe Cipriani, the man that also founded Harry’s Bar, another popular venue in Venice. It is still owned by his family and it is only getting better.
He originaly transformed it in an inn –locada actually means inn- and it was the place where the amazing Ernest Hemingway wrote ‘Across the River and Through the Trees’.
After that, it pretty much became famous and know specializes in specializes in rustic, traditional cuisine. Paul Newman and Queen Elizabeth II are other famous people that were attracted to this place.
