Probably Buenos Aires’ best known LGBT nightclub is Amerika. Also, it is considered to be the largest club in Latin America.
Located in the Almagro neighborhood, Amerika was closed for 5 months, due to complaints of noise from Almagro’s residents.
Although, some people said it is discrimination on the part of its neighborhood.
However, the Comunidad Homosexual Argentina, an association that defends the LGBT rights, helped reopening the club, in December 2006.
The venue features 3 dance floors, named Continental, Crystal and Caribbean, and a capacity for 1866 people.
Amerika opens only on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
And although Amerika is a gay nightclub, there’s always a large crowd with plenty of people of every sexual orientation.
