Jackson made his debute on the professional music scene with The Jackson 5 band in 1968, along with his brothers.
He began his solo career in 1971 and became a dominant figure in popular music.
His music videos such as Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller thought to break down racial barriers and transformed the industry into an art form and promotional tool.
Even after his death, Jackson is still cashing in on his own record sales, as well as earnings from his portion of Sony/ATV music sales, which includes copyright to top performers like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Eminem, and the Beatles.
Two Cirque du Soleil shows under his name, Immortal and One, continue to add to his earnings of $170 million.
