Chip Wilson’s net worth is estimated at $5 billion as of November 2026. The man who founded Lululemon now has about three times as much money in the owner of Arc’teryx and Salomon as he has in Lululemon. His 8.7 percent of the yoga brand was worth about $1 billion at the November 2 close, while his Amer Sports shares came to about $3 billion, and a Vancouver and Seattle property business makes up most of the rest.

How much is Chip Wilson worth in 2026?

We estimate about $5 billion, in a range of $4 billion to $6.5 billion. Nearly all of it is two listed stocks and real estate we can only roughly size. The ledger treats everything held through his companies as his, because an SEC filing names him as the person who controls the Amer Sports holding companies. Any division of family assets would change the number, and we have no public terms to model.

Public estimates disagree for two checkable reasons. A figure near 21 percent of Amer Sports still appears in trade reports, while the latest filing we could open shows 18 percent: at today’s share count and price the higher number would add about $680 million we don’t think exists. And share-backed loans rarely get subtracted. Footwear Magazine reported that he put himself at about $6.3 billion in March 2025, and share prices have changed since.

How Chip Wilson built it

  • Sold to fund the next bet. About $1.1 billion of Lululemon share sales built his Amer Sports position.
  • Put money into local property. He co-founded Low Tide Properties in 2011 and built a portfolio in Vancouver and Seattle.
  • Fought for board seats. Two directors he nominated agreed to join the Lululemon board in 2026.

How we got to $5 billion

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Amer Sports shares $3.07 billion 99.96 million shares at the $30.67 close on November 2. The count comes from an SEC filing of August 2025, then 18 percent. We found no later filing, so we assume it hasn’t changed. It is 17.2 percent of today’s 581.82 million shares.
Lululemon shares $1.04 billion About 8.7 percent in May 2026, times the $11.94 billion market value on November 2.
Low Tide Properties $1 billion Our assumption for his equity after debt. Real Estate Magazine called it a billion-dollar portfolio in 2023 and said he co-founded it with David Ferguson. No valuation, debt figure or split with Ferguson is public.
Point Grey Road home $0.05 billion C$64.4 million, the 2025 assessed value set by the appeal board, at C$1.397 to the dollar on November 3. That is $46.1 million.
Cash and Wilson Capital $0.2 billion Our assumption. A $159.7 million sale of Amer stock in August 2025 added cash, and the private investments of Wilson Capital are unnamed.
Share-backed loans Minus $0.32 billion Filings described in August 2025 show facilities of up to $315 million, $122 million and $200 million, $637 million in all. Draws aren’t disclosed, so we assume half.
Total $5.04 billion $3.07 billion, $1.04 billion, $1 billion, $0.05 billion and $0.2 billion, less $0.32 billion. We round to $5 billion.

We subtracted no giving. A $100 million research commitment and a $100 million pledge to the BC Parks Foundation are public, but how much has already been paid isn’t.

He sold Lululemon to buy something that nearly tripled

His Amer Sports position was built with about $1.1 billion from Lululemon share sales, Footwear Magazine reported. Today’s $3.07 billion plus the $159.7 million he has taken out is $3.23 billion, which by our calculation is 2.9 times the money. Over five years to April 2026, the same report said, Lululemon stock had fallen 48 percent.

The 2014 sale shows the other side of the trade. The block of 13.85 percent went to Advent International for about $845 million, or $61 million per percentage point. On November 2, one percentage point of Lululemon was worth $119 million, close to double. So selling early wasn’t free. Lululemon is now about 21 percent of his fortune, on our numbers.

His months-long dispute with the Lululemon board ended in a cooperation agreement in May 2026. Two directors he had nominated, Laura Gentile and Marc Maurer, were to join after the annual meeting, and he accepted about 18 months of standstill and non-disparagement terms.

The real estate plan he admits he missed

About a decade before 2023, Wilson, his family and Ferguson decided to put 65 percent of their wealth into real estate in three cities by 2030. Asked in 2023, he said they would be lucky to reach 20 percent. Our ledger gets $1.05 billion of $5.04 billion, or 21 percent, which is a decent cross-check on a row we can’t otherwise verify. The purchases we can see are specific: $89.5 million for 147 apartments in Kirkland, Washington, in 2018.

His own house has a story too. A B.C. appeal board ruled on May 28, 2026 that the 2025 assessment should fall from nearly C$82.7 million to C$64.4 million, a cut of more than C$18 million. He had argued its market value was about C$55 million.

What would move the figure

Amer Sports, by a wide margin. Every $1 on the share price moves him $100 million, and it rose $1.24 on November 2 alone. Disclosure of draws on those loans would come next. He is also building a new venture to incubate and buy small athletic brands, announced in April 2026 with no investment figure published, and it could absorb a good part of the cash row.
