Jerry Seinfeld is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and director and his current net worth is $500 million.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Kalman Seinfeld and Betty, he grew up in Massapequa, New York. Growing up, he attended Massapequa High School on Long Island.

At 16 years old, he spent his time volunteering in Kibbutz Sa’ar in Israel.

Later on, he went to State University of New York at Oswego, but transferred after his second year to Queens College, City University of New York. From which he graduated with a degree in communications and theater.

He showed interest in stand-up comedy after brief stints in college productions.

Upon graduating from college, he went at an open-microphone night at New York City’s Catch a Rising Star. After which he led an appearance in a Rodney Dangerfield HBO special.

He had a small recurring role on the sitcom Benson, where he portrayed Frankie, a mail delivery boy who had jokes no one wanted to hear.

Due to creative differences, they had to let Seinfeld go.

How did Jerry get famous?

After having a successful appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where Jerry impressed him, a lot of other appearances on other shows followed.

In 1988 he started, alongside Larry David, The Seinfeld Chronicles, for NBC.

To avoid confusion with sitcom The Marshall Chronicles, the show renamed into Seinfeld.

The show quickly became the most popular and successful on American television. In 1998 it ended and since then they have syndicated re-run it.

Jerry mentioned that he drew inspiration for the sitcom from the 1950s sitcom The Abbott and Costello Show.

After the show ended, he moved back to New York City to return to his stand-up comedy, rather than stay in LA and continue his acting career.

How does Jerry make money?

He went on tour and recorded a comedy special titled I’m Telling You for the Last Time, back in 1998.

Apart from his acting and stand-up comedy career, he is also a cherished author. He has written several books, mostly archives of past routines.

Apple Computer created an advertising slogan, Think Different, and made an 60-second ad to promote it.

The ad which included Seinfeld at the end featured other celebrities like Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and many others. The ad ran only one time during the series finale of Seinfeld.

After several other commercials for various brands, he made a return to NBC when guest-starring as himself in a 30 Rock episode.

In 2008 he made some ads for Windows Vista, as part of $300-million advertising campaign by Microsoft.

Although the ads didn’t run much on TV, Microsoft chose to continue showcasing them on their website, as a series of longer advertisements.

In the following years, he continued to appear on other commercials, with some of them even written by him.

In 2012 he created a Web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. There he would invite a fellow comedian in a different car each episode and take them out for coffee and conversation.

The show ran for two seasons, until 2013, for which he earned a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.

He has appeared and co-wrote some of rapper Wale’s songs for his fourth studio album.

Today, he has signed an exclusive comedy deal with Netflix. As part of the deal, all episodes of his web series will be available on Netflix, including 24 new episodes.

The deal also included two new Seinfeld stand-up specials and the development of scripted and non-scripted comedy programming for Netflix.
