Jim Parsons is an American actor and his current net worth is $35 million.
Born in Houston, Texas, he is the son of Milton Joseph Parsons, Jr., and teacher Judy Ann. He grew up in the northern suburbs of Texas, in Spring, along with his sister.
While there he went to Klein Oak High School where he played the role of the Kola-Kola bird in a school production of The Elephant’s Child, at six years old.
Since that moment, he made his mind to become an actor.
Upon graduation he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, where he starred in 17 plays.
As the founding member of Infernal Bridegroom Productions he regularly appeared at the Stages Repertory Theatre.
After which, he enrolled in graduate school at the University of San Diego, as one of the seven students accepted into a special two-year course in classical theater.
Growing up, he enjoyed school and wanted to pursue a doctorate in acting if possible.
Upon graduation he moved to New York. While there, he worked in Off-Broadway productions and starred in several television shows.
He had a recurring role on the TV show, Judging Amy and starred on the TV series Ed.
During the following period, he had minor roles in a couple of movies, including Garden State and School for Scoundrels.

After auditioning for 15-30 television pilots, many of them failed to find a television network to purchase them, until The Big Bang Theory.
Upon reading the pilot script, he felt that the role of Sheldon Cooper would be a perfect fit for him.
Although he didn’t feel any relationship with the character, he loved the dialogue structure and decided to take the role.
He received the part of Sheldon Cooper, a physicist with social apathy who belittles frequently his friends and the waitress who lives across the hall.
For the role, he received critical acclaim as well as numerous nominations and awards. He won the Television Critics Association award for individual achievement in comedy.

In 2010, along with his co-stars, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco signed new contracts, earning each of them $200,000 per episode for the fourth season of the show.
