How much is Joel Embiid worth in 2026?
We estimate about $90 million. The salary half of that is documented down to the season. Footwear money and spending are our assumptions, and we mark them. Public estimates run from about $85 million to $150 million, mostly because the high ones treat a contract’s headline value as money already banked.
How Joel Embiid built it
- Traded an option for security. He gave up a $59 million 2026-27 player option for a three-year, $192.9 million extension in 2024.
- Backed a new shoe brand. He moved to Skechers in April 2024 after a five-year Under Armour deal signed in 2018.
- Started a studio with partners. He co-founded the production studio Miniature Geant in 2023 with LeBron James's SpringHill Company.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| NBA pay through 2025-26, after tax and fees | $161 million | About $322 million gross, worked out below. We assume he kept 50 percent after tax, agent fees and escrow. The 50 percent is our assumption. |
| Under Armour, Skechers and other endorsements, after tax | $20 million | Our assumption: $5 million a year for eight years (2018 to 2026) is $40 million, and he keeps half. No deal value has been published. |
| Startup stakes and the production studio | $0 | Three startup investments and a studio are real, but their values are not public. Any money in them came out of the rows above, so we add nothing. |
| Spending, family and homes | minus $91 million | Our assumption: half of the $181 million above is gone. No record documents this. |
| Total | $90 million | The rows sum to $90 million. |
Working backwards from one ESPN sentence
Nobody needs to guess at his salary history. In September 2024, ESPN reported that a three-year, $192.9 million extension gave him $299.5 million guaranteed through 2028-29 and would lift his career total to $514.8 million. Subtract one from the other, and by our calculation he had been paid about $215.3 million through 2023-24.
CBS Sports then carried ESPN’s estimates for the last three seasons: $59.3 million, $64.3 million and $69.1 million, or $192.7 million. That leaves $106.8 million for 2024-25 and 2025-26 together. Add it to $215.3 million and you get $322.1 million through last season, which is 63 percent of the $514.8 million. The other 37 percent has not been paid yet, and on schedule it arrives by about the time he turns 35.
The option he handed back
The trade looks odd until you line it up. He gave up a $59 million player option for 2026-27, and then got about $59.3 million for the same season anyway, plus two more years. So the extension’s real gain is the $133.4 million for 2027-28 and 2028-29, the last of those being his own option.
It wasn’t his first big contract either. In October 2017 the Sixers gave him five years and $148 million, with up to $30 million more tied to awards. In 2021 a four-year, $196 million extension followed.
Shoes, startups and a studio
In October 2018 he signed a five-year Under Armour deal. ESPN’s sources said the yearly value would make him the league’s highest-paid center, with no dollar figure attached. He later wore a signature model, the UA Embiid One. In April 2024 he made it official with Skechers, again with no terms disclosed.
Off the court, CB Insights lists three investments, the latest in Function Health’s Series B on April 29, 2025. The $298 million is the whole round, and his own cheque is not disclosed. In 2023 he co-founded the production studio Miniature Geant with LeBron James’s SpringHill Company.
What would move the figure
He made 38 starts in 2025-26 and then played in the 2026 playoffs, including a seven-game first-round win over Boston, according to his season record. The $192.7 million ahead is what matters most: if the guaranteed money arrives as scheduled and he keeps half of it, that alone adds about $96 million before spending. The 2028-29 option, worth about $69.1 million, is the last decision he controls. Any disclosed Skechers terms would replace our assumption above.

How much has Joel Embiid earned in his NBA career?
About $322 million through 2025-26 by our calculation, from ESPN’s figures. ESPN projected $514.8 million by 2028-29, fourth highest in NBA history at the time.
How much does Joel Embiid make from Skechers?

He was born on March 16, 1994, in Yaounde, Cameroon, so he is 32. He will be 35 in the final season of the extension.
How is this net worth figure calculated?
We take $322 million in pay, assume he kept half, add $20 million from endorsements after tax, then assume half of that $181 million was spent.
