Johnny Mathis Net Worth: How rich is Johnny Mathis? & How much money is Johnny Mathis worth? Time to find out!

Johnny Mathis is an American singer and his current net worth is $400 million.

Born in Texas as the fourth of seven children of Clem Mathis and Mildred Boyd, he moved along with his family to San Francisco, California, where he grew up.

His father worked in vaudeville, and when he saw Johnny’s talent he bought an old piano and encouraged him to practice.

His father thought him songs and routines and wrote his first song, My Blue Heaven which he used to perform for visitors at home, school and church.

At 13 voice teacher Connie Cox accepted to teach him in exchange for work around her house.

He studied with her for six years where he learned vocal scales and exercises, voice production and many other skills.

Today he is one of the most respected and few popular singers who took lessons of voice training that included opera for many years.

While in high school, he used to sing in a band that he and his friend Merl Saunders formed.

He attended George Washington High School in San Francisco as a star athlete. He played on the basketball team as well as being a high jumper and hurdler.

A few years later he attended San Francisco State University on an athletic scholarship with the intention to become an English teacher and a physical education teacher.

But things didn’t turn out the way he intended with him becoming one of the richest singers in the world.

He might have started his career singing standard music but became famous as an album artist with many of his albums receiving gold or platinum.

Mathis has sold well over 100 million records worldwide, according to Guinness Book of British Hit Singles writer, and other sources.

Johnny Mathis: A New Sound in Popular Song, got a slow selling, but he continued to stay in New York to sing in nightclubs.

Produced by Columbia Records vice-president and record producer Mitch Miller, his second album had a more defined sound.

Despite described as a romantic singer his discography includes jazz, traditional pop, and many other types of music.

He first got the attention of a club’s co-founder while singing at a Sunday afternoon jam session. Helen Noga, who discovered him, became his music manager.
