How much is Julia Quinn Worth? Julia Quinn Net Worth in 2026
Julia Quinn’s net worth is estimated at $9 million as of November 2026. In the four weeks after Bridgerton reached Netflix, her publisher sold 750,000 copies of the books, about two years of her average US sales up to then. She had quit Yale medical school after two months to write romance, and the 25 years before that Christmas premiere were a good living rather than a fortune.

How much is Julia Quinn worth in 2026?
Our figure is $9 million, in a range of $6 million to $20 million. This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. Book contracts are private, and neither she nor Netflix has given a rights figure. We do have sales counts, so the sum starts there and marks every rate per copy as an assumption.
Public estimates run about $14 million to $16 million. Take our $24.5 million gross, remove only the agent and the tax, and about $12.5 million is left, close to those figures. They seem to skip three decades of living costs. A $250,000 figure for the Netflix rights also circulates, without a source we could open, so we don’t use it.
How Julia Quinn built it
- Left medicine for romance novels. She left Yale School of Medicine after two months to write full-time.
- Wrote one family across eight novels. Eight Bridgerton novels were on the New York Times list at the same time in 2021.
- Kept the writing going for decades. She has published since 1995 and reached 19 straight New York Times bestsellers.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |

| Foreign editions | $4 million | Assumption: 10 million copies at $0.40 each. She has been translated into 45 languages, and we found no worldwide sales total. |
| Netflix rights and consulting | $2 million | Assumption: $50,000 an episode for 32 episodes across four seasons is $1.6 million, plus $0.4 million for the option and her script consulting. |
| Speaking and other work | $0.5 million | Assumption. This covers talks like a May 2026 library series event in Manhattan Beach, plus graphic novels and tie-ins. |
| Agent fees | Minus $3.7 million | Assumption: 15 percent of the $24.5 million above. |
| Income tax | Minus $8.3 million | Assumption: 40 percent of the $20.8 million left. |

| Total | $9 million | The rows sum to about $9 million. |
Four weeks that outsold two years
A January 2021 profile said she had sold more than 10 million copies in the US alone. Her first book came out in 1995. Our calculation: 10 million copies over about 25.7 years is about 390,000 a year. Publishers Weekly then reported on January 22, 2021 that Avon had sold 750,000 Bridgerton books since the December 25 premiere, 285,000 of them in the latest week. So four weeks equalled about 1.9 average years.
At our $0.90 a copy, the average old year was worth about $351,000 to her before her agent and tax. That month alone was worth about $675,000. In an AP interview in 2022 she was described as having made a nice living before the show. The numbers agree.
Her media kit figure of 20 million in print is double the 10 million sold reported in early 2021. The two aren’t the same measure, since a book can be printed and not sold, and the kit is undated. That is the largest soft spot in our sum: at 15 million copies sold in the US, the first row falls by $4.5 million.
Medical school, briefly
She was accepted to Yale School of Medicine just as her first two novels, Splendid and Dancing at Midnight, sold at auction, which was unusual for a new romance author. She deferred for two years to write, went, and left after two months. Avon published Splendid in 1995.
The Bridgerton link came by chance. Shonda Rhimes found The Duke and I on vacation and bought the rest of the series. Netflix’s rights terms have never been reported, so we have kept that row modest. In our sum Netflix is $2 million of $24.5 million gross, about 8 percent, while books are about 90 percent. Her biggest payoff from Netflix is the sales it caused.
What comes next
Season 4 arrived in two parts on January 29 and February 26, 2026, and Netflix has already renewed the show for seasons 5 and 6. A prequel about Violet Bridgerton is in development. We assume more royalties from each new season, on a smaller scale than the first surge. A disclosed rights deal, or an up-to-date worldwide sales total from her publisher, would move this figure most.
