How much is Ken Griffin Worth? Ken Griffin Net Worth in 2026
Ken Griffin’s net worth is estimated at $41 billion as of November 2026.
The most expensive single page in his financial life is not a painting or a Manhattan penthouse. It is a January 2022 deal in which he sold a stake of about 5 percent in his market-making firm for roughly $1.2 billion and, in doing so, told the world what the rest was worth. Griffin founded Citadel in 1990, runs the hedge fund, and moved the whole operation from Chicago to Miami in 2022. He was born in 1968.

How much is Ken Griffin worth in 2026?
We put Griffin at $41 billion. That is an estimate built from the one outside price ever put on his market-making firm, a fee record for his hedge fund, and a cash allowance. Public estimates run from the mid-$40s billion to the high $50s depending on the day, and nobody outside Citadel knows exactly what he owns.
The spread has a plain cause: Citadel is private. Some lists apply a guessed stake to a guessed valuation, some value the market maker at its last sale price from 2022 even though its revenue has grown since, and some ignore that he has given away billions. Ours is lower than most because we use a stake of 75 percent and a modest pay assumption.
How Ken Griffin built it
- Sold a slice to price the rest. A $1.15 billion sale of about 5 percent of Citadel Securities in 2022 valued the firm at $22 billion.
- Kept cash working in other firms. Citadel Securities put $400 million into Crypto.com at a $20 billion valuation in July 2026.
- Returned profits to investors. Citadel has paid $18 billion in voluntary distributions to investors since 2018 to limit fund growth.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Citadel Securities stake | $21 billion | Sequoia and Paradigm bought a stake of about $1.2 billion in 2022 at a $22 billion valuation, Hedgeweek reported. That is the only outside price. Net trading revenue was about $7.5 billion for 2022 and a reported $9.7 billion in 2024. Our assumption: scaling the price by that growth gives about $28 billion today (a rough match, since the price was struck in January 2022 and the revenue is for the full year). We then credit Griffin with 75 percent, our assumption: the stake has never been disclosed. |
| Citadel hedge fund firm | $13 billion | A Hedgeweek report on Citadel’s fund prospectus showed management and performance fees on the three largest funds of $7.5 billion from early 2021 to September 2024, about $2 billion a year. We assume the fee business is worth 8 times that, $16 billion, and that he owns 80 percent, which is how he is usually described as owner of the firm. |
| Cash and outside investments | $8.5 billion | Our assumption: pay averaged $2 billion a year over ten years, about $20 billion before tax, close to the yearly fee stream above. After roughly 57 percent for tax and spending, and before the property and gifts counted separately, we keep $8.5 billion. |
| Property and art | $0.5 billion | A $238 million Manhattan penthouse and a $43.2 million copy of the US Constitution are documented. We assume about $0.2 billion more for his Miami and Palm Beach homes and art. |
| Given away | Minus $2 billion | Lifetime giving before the 2026 Carnegie Mellon pledge is reported at over $2 billion, including $300 million to Harvard in 2023. |
The rows add to $41 billion. Our calculation: the Citadel Securities stake, $21 billion, is 51 percent of the total, and the 2022 sale that priced it was about 5 percent of the company. Selling one twentieth of the firm therefore set the price on roughly half of everything he owns.
A $3 billion gift that has not left the ledger yet
On 30 September 2026 Griffin announced, according to press reports, a $3 billion gift to Carnegie Mellon University, reported as the largest single donation to a US university. About $2 billion goes to a new campus in Miami’s Wynwood district for more than 3,500 students and $1 billion to Pittsburgh. We have not subtracted it. It is a pledge, the schedule has not been published, and $3 billion is 7 percent of our figure.
Why a market maker is worth more than a hedge fund
The hedge fund is the famous part: Wellington gained 2.5 percent in the first half of 2025, CNBC reported and its tactical fund 6.1 percent, and Citadel has returned $18 billion to investors in voluntary distributions since 2018. But the market maker earns more. Its net income in 2024 was a reported $4.2 billion, and in July 2026 it put $400 million into Crypto.com at a $20 billion valuation, The Block reported.
What would move the figure
An outside sale or listing of Citadel Securities would replace our multiple with a price. Each turn of revenue multiple moves his stake by roughly $7 billion on 2024 revenue at 75 percent. The Carnegie Mellon payments would push the total down, and reported 2025 revenue above $9.7 billion, which we did not check, would push it up.
