Kenny Rogers is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. and his current net worth is $300 million.
After moving from teenage rock’n’roll through psychedelic rock, he became famous due to his solo 1958 hit called That Crazy Feeling.
Upon sales dropping he joined the jazz band The Bobby Doyle Three, who played in major clubs. The group had a recording deal with Columbia Records.
After the band broke, he started recording for Mercury Records. His song, “Here’s That Rainy Day”, a jazzy rock single failed to reach success.
Between that he also worked as a producer, writer and session musician for other performers such as Mickey Gilley and Eddy Arnold.
Few years later he joined the band, New Christy Minstrels as performer and double bass player.
Rogers and few of his band members felt that the band isn’t going to get them on the international tops, they left the group.
They decided to start The First Edition, a band who had a lot of hits among the years, including But You Know I Love You.
In 1976 the band broke and Rogers started his solo career with a newly developed sound that sold to both pop and country fans.
Among his entire career, fifty of his albums charted, with several of his songs featured in movie soundtracks.
In a recording career dating back to 1950s, he has recorded 65 albums and sold over 165 million records, making his one of the best-selling artists.
In 2008 he released 50 Years album, which includes some of his greatest hits, plus three new songs.
The same year he toured with his Christmas Show, and the next year he toured in UK.
He has embarked on his 50th Anniversary Tour that went through US Ireland, in 2009.
Since 2013 he is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, along with Cowboy Jack Clement and Bobby Bare.
In 2015, he announced on a national television show that he is retiring from show business after a final tour. He wanted to spend more time with his wife and twins.
The Gambler’s Last Deal tour is still going and has dates scheduled until at least August 2017.
