How much is Linus Sebastian worth in 2026?

We put Sebastian and his wife at about $90 million. The company is jointly owned and the numbers below are for the household. The range is wide because there are no published accounts, only a 2023 buyout offer, a 2026 headcount and a lot of subscribers.

How Linus Sebastian built it

  • Bought the channel for a dollar. He kept Linus Tech Tips as company property for $1 when he left NCIX, under a two-year non-compete.
  • Built products around the audience. The company runs Floatplane, set up in April 2017, and a merchandise business started in September 2018.
  • Turned down an offer. In May 2023 he declined a buyout that valued the company at around $100 million, by his own account.

How we got to $90 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Linus Media Group $70 million Partly documented. Sebastian said the company received a buyout offer valuing it at around $100 million in May 2023, which he declined. We take 30 percent off for the 2026 staff departures and because the business depends on his presence.
Floatplane and the Adequate Media company $10 million Assumption. Floatplane Media was incorporated in April 2017 as a paywalled video service, and a separate company, Adequate Media, was set up on January 1, 2026. No valuations are public.
Savings and property $10 million Assumption. Pay and dividends from a company with about 120 staff over more than a decade, kept after tax. Nothing here is documented.
Total $90 million Sum of the three rows.

One row rests on a number Sebastian himself gave. The other two are labelled guesses.

The $100 million that never happened

By our calculation, the declined 2023 offer works out to about $6 per subscriber on the 16.8 million the main channel had in January 2026 ($100 million divided by 16.8 million, with the caveat that the offer came before that count). Across the whole group that is less per head, because the company also has several other channels. We have no revenue figure we can stand behind, so we do not put a multiple on the offer.

Where the money comes from

Wikipedia’s Linus Media Group entry says the company has about 120 staff as of January 2026, from Sebastian’s own video. The company’s own site lists seven channels, plus the LTT Store, LTT Labs and Floatplane (see linusmediagroup.com). Beyond YouTube advertising it runs the LTT Store through Creator Warehouse Inc., set up in September 2018, and Floatplane, a streaming service with all videos behind a paywall. The LTX Expo event ran from 2017 to 2023. Sebastian was CEO until July 1, 2023, then became chief vision officer. When he left NCIX he took over the Linus Tech Tips channel as company property for $1, under a two-year non-compete.

A year of departures

In early 2026 longtime staff left, citing pay disparities and limits on making content outside technology, and the PSU Circuit channel went inactive on January 3, 2026. Mac Address went on hiatus in November 2024. We read that as a smaller content slate, which is why we cut the company value by 30 percent from the 2023 offer. The channel’s most recent headline moment was a world record for calculating 300 trillion digits of pi, announced in May 2025.

Why other estimates disagree

Without published accounts, public estimates lean on view counts or on the 2023 offer, and few mention that his wife co-owns the company. Ours splits the company value from his savings and says which rows are guesses.

What would move the figure

A real sale or a new outside investor would replace our guess. A decline in sponsors or more creators leaving would lower it. The subscriber count itself, 16.9 million on the main channel in June 2026, moves slowly.
