How much is Mark Wiens worth in 2026?
This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. He has never published his income, so we start from the one thing that can be counted, his views. vidIQ’s channel stats showed 3,407,172,254 lifetime views and about 12 million subscribers on November 2, 2026.
From there we get to $9 million, in a range of $4 million to $15 million. Audience size carries most of this figure, and the ledger is almost entirely assumption.
How Mark Wiens built it
- Started publishing in 2009. He began his blog and YouTube channel in 2009 and went full time in 2012.
- Kept living costs low. Cheap living in Thailand gave him room to put money into his online projects.
- Added a restaurant and tour. He co-owns Phed Mark, opened in 2019, and launched a Bangkok food tour in 2020.

| Source | Our estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube ads, lifetime | $13.6 million | Our assumption: 3.41 billion views at $4 per 1,000, the low end of SponsorRadar’s $4 to $10 travel benchmark. Older, cheaper years argue for the low end. |
| Sponsors, ebooks, merchandise, affiliate links | $3.4 million | Our assumption: a quarter of ad income. In 2018 he said ads were the largest source and sponsors only occasional. |
| TV hosting, restaurant, food tour | $1 million | Our assumption. HBO Asia and National Geographic series, Phed Mark and the tour are confirmed, but no fee or profit is public. |
| Costs, tax and living | minus $9 million | Our assumption: half of the $18 million total went on travel, crew, tax and 17 years of family living. |
| Total | $9 million | Rows add up to the headline. |
Three times the old $2,000 a day
The number that has followed him around is $2,000 a day from YouTube, a 2020 estimate The Tilt repeated in 2021. It has aged badly. vidIQ counted 50,199,196 views in October 2026. Our calculation: at $4 per 1,000 that’s about $200,800 for the month, or about $6,500 a day. That’s more than three times the old figure, at the low end of that benchmark, and before a dollar of cost. vidIQ’s own model shows about $100,000 of ad revenue with no stated window. If that were one month, the rate would be about $2, lifetime ads about half our figure and our total about $4.8 million.
Annualized, it’s about $2.4 million. Per video, the arithmetic is less glamorous: 3.41 billion views across 1,650 uploads averages 2.06 million, which at the same rate is about $8,260 for a video over its whole life. That has to pay for the flights.
89 percent of the views came after 2018
When Entrepreneur interviewed him in April 2018, he had about 373 million views after nine years on YouTube. Today’s total is nine times that. By our math, 89 percent of all the views he has ever had arrived in the eight and a half years since. That matters for the estimate: the bulk of his ad income is recent, which means less of it has had time to compound, so we give it no investment gains row.
That interview also describes how lean the operation was. He handled research, filming, editing and marketing himself, working about 14 hours a day when not filming. He told the magazine low living costs in Thailand gave him room to put money into his online projects. No team size or spending figure is public, which is why the costs row is one broad assumption.
A basil stir-fry on the side
Off camera he co-owns Phed Mark, a Bangkok restaurant known for phat kaphrao that opened in 2019, and he launched a food tour with a local company in 2020. Hosting credits followed: an HBO Asia series in 2022 and a National Geographic series in 2024. None of those deals has a published price.
The second channel adds little. SponsorRadar estimates Mark Wiens Abroad, with 1.1 million subscribers, makes $30,000 to $75,000 a year and detected no sponsors in the past 12 months, though it says those are estimates and not actuals.
Why other estimates disagree
Public estimates vary widely because they pick different ad rates and many treat gross views as personal profit. Few say what they took off for travel, crew or tax. At the $10 end of the same rate range, his lifetime ads alone would be about $34 million gross, which shows how much the assumption carries.
The figure would move with any disclosed restaurant or tour profit, a real number for sponsors, or a change in his ad rate. At 50 million views a month, each extra dollar per 1,000 is worth about $600,000 a year before costs.
