How much is Neeraj Chopra worth in 2026?

We estimate $5.6 million, and this is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. Cash rewards and prize money are on the record. His contracts are not, so most of the ledger rests on one reported fee and our assumptions about how many deals he held. One crore is 10 million rupees. We convert at Rs 95 to the dollar, rounding the 94.93 rate of 3 November 2026.

How Neeraj Chopra built it

  • Won first, then raised prices. His endorsement fee rose about ten times after the Tokyo gold.
  • Took management in house. He launched Vel Sports in January 2026 to run his own endorsements and career planning.
  • Earned far more from sponsors. Career Diamond League winnings of $165,500 are smaller than one reported endorsement fee.

How we got to $5.6 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
Endorsements since Tokyo $5.47 million Our assumption: 8 deals at the Rs 2.5 crore fee reported in 2021, for 5 years, is Rs 100 crore. We take off 20 percent for the agency and 35 percent tax, leaving Rs 52 crore. The report doesn’t say the fee is annual, so that is our assumption too. The deal count is a guess, set below the five or six new deals and four existing ones The Bridge described in 2021.
Tokyo cash rewards $1.18 million Outlook Business listed Rs 16 crore: Haryana 6, Railways 3, Punjab 2, BYJU’S 2, Chennai Super Kings 2, BCCI 1. We assume 30 percent tax, leaving Rs 11.2 crore.
Prize money $0.12 million $165,500 from the Diamond League and $5,000 from the 2025 World Championships, per Salarysport, less an assumed 30 percent tax. This omits other meets, whose payouts we couldn’t find.
Army pay and early deals $0.21 million Our assumption of Rs 2 crore after tax. Before Tokyo he earned Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per endorsement.
Spending, training and family Minus $1.40 million Our assumption of 20 percent of the Rs 66.3 crore above, or Rs 13.3 crore. He is 28 and we found no record of large purchases.
Total $5.6 million Rs 53 crore at Rs 95 to the dollar. Mostly assumptions, as labelled.

The medal pays once, the sponsor pays every year

Diamond League money tops out at $30,000, which he collected for winning the 2022 final in Zurich. His best season, 2022, paid $46,000 from three starts. Eighth place at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo paid $5,000.

Now the sponsors. Before the Tokyo Olympics he made Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per endorsement a year, and The Bridge reported in 2021 the fee was heading roughly ten times higher. By our calculation, a year of our assumed 8 deals is Rs 20 crore, or $2.1 million, which is 12 times the $170,500 of prize money in our ledger. All of those prize cheques together equal about one month of sponsor income.

Brands named over the years include Omega, Under Armour, Coca-Cola, Samsung, VISA and Britannia, and Audi India made him an ambassador in May 2025. After Paris, The Bridge reported a 40 to 50 percent rise in his commercial value, and the chief commercial officer of JSW Sports said the silver had lifted it further. We did not add that rise to our fee, because the early post-Tokyo years were probably lower than the average we use.

The 2026 decision: cutting out the middleman

Reported on 5 January 2026: Chopra ended his partnership of more than a decade with JSW Sports, amicably by both accounts, and launched his own firm, Vel Sports, a limited liability partnership that will handle his endorsements. No one has published the old commission. If it was the 20 percent we assume, the math on Rs 20 crore a year is Rs 4 crore he now keeps before tax, minus whatever the new firm costs to run. We can’t check any of that from outside.

Why other estimates disagree

Public estimates tend to add gross fees without tax or commission. The wilder ones mix up brand value with personal wealth: a reported brand valuation of $29.6 million in 2024 measures what his name might be worth to advertisers, and none of it is in his bank account.

What would move the number

His ability to keep winning. He took Commonwealth silver in Glasgow in 2026 with 85.83 metres and his best throw of the season was 88.05 metres in Lausanne in August, short of the 90.23 metres he threw in May 2025. A new medal cycle or a long renewal signed through Vel Sports would lift the figure quickly.
