The most repeated claim about her money, Rs 40 lakh a month from YouTube, would need her channel to earn about $4 for every thousand views, which we doubt ads alone can do.

How much is Prajakta Koli worth in 2026?

Our figure is $1.7 million, in a range of $1 million to $4 million. This one is a rough estimate: little of the money is documented. We converted rupees at Rs 94.73 to the dollar, the rate on November 3, 2026. Her views and credits are public, her contracts are not.

Public estimates disagree because they treat a reported rate as if it held for her entire career, and some give the gross figure in dollars without tax or team costs. A weaker rupee also shrinks any older figure converted at an old rate.

How Prajakta Koli built it

  • Started on YouTube in 2015. She launched MostlySane in February 2015 and grew it to 7.23 million subscribers.
  • Moved from YouTube into acting. She took on Mismatched in 2020 and has kept adding film and series credits since.
  • Turned her novel into a series. Variety India reported in March 2026 that she would star in and produce the Netflix adaptation.

How we got to $1.7 million

Source Our estimate What it rests on
YouTube ads, 2015 to 2026 $2.0 million vidIQ shows 1.99 billion lifetime views on MostlySane. Assumption: $1 for each thousand views reaches her after YouTube’s share. Her real rate is private.
Brand deals $1.3 million Outlook Business cited a Media Ant report of about Rs 5 lakh a story, Rs 7.5 lakh a post and Rs 10 lakh a Reel. Assumption: 30 paid posts a year for 8 years at Rs 5 lakh, below today’s rates because early deals paid less. That is Rs 12 crore.
Acting fees $0.4 million The same article says Rs 30 lakh per film project, without naming a source. Assumption: that rate holds across 14 credits, series included, with three Mismatched seasons counted separately, for Rs 4.2 crore.
Debut novel $0.1 million A review in Open magazine repeated a claim of 150,000 copies in a month. Assumption: Rs 40 a copy to her, or Rs 60 lakh, which is about $63,000 and rounds up here.
Team and commissions minus $0.8 million Assumption: 20 percent of the $3.8 million above for editors, crew and management.
Income tax minus $0.9 million Assumption: 30 percent of the $3.0 million left.
Living costs minus $0.8 million Assumption: Rs 60 lakh a year for 12 years, or Rs 7.2 crore.
Investment returns $0.4 million Assumption: the $1.3 million left grew 34 percent, which is 6 percent a year for 5 years, since most of it arrived recently.
Total $1.7 million The rows sum to exactly $1.7 million, and every money row depends on an assumption.

The Rs 40 lakh question

Indian entertainment sites have repeated it since at least 2023: nearly Rs 40 lakh a month from YouTube. At today’s rate that is about $42,225 a month, or about $506,700 a year.

Now the sum. In October 2026 her channel picked up about 10.46 million views. By our calculation, $42,225 divided by 10.46 million views is $4.04 per 1,000 views. We think that is too high for ad money on a channel with a largely Indian audience, so the figure probably mixes in sponsored videos, or dates from a busier year for the channel. That is why we use $1 per thousand for ads and count brand deals separately. If the Rs 40 lakh were pure ad income for every one of the last 10 years, she would have grossed Rs 48 crore from it alone, about three times our entire headline.

The channel slowed, and the work moved

She started MostlySane in February 2015 after starting out as an intern and RJ at Fever 104 FM in Mumbai. It now has 7.23 million subscribers, and those 10.46 million monthly views are modest beside 1.99 billion lifetime views, an average of about 14 million a month over the channel’s 142 months. Her credits tell the rest of it: Mismatched from 2020, Jugjugg Jeeyo in 2022, Andhera and Single Papa in 2025, and a Marathi film debut and Operation Safed Sagar in 2026. In July 2025 she became the first Indian creator on the TIME100 Creators list.

The deal that could change the sum

On March 31, 2026, Variety India reported that Netflix India would adapt Too Good To Be True into a web series, with Koli starring and producing, and production expected in the second half of 2026. It gave no budget or fee. Producing her own book is the first thing on this page that looks like ownership and not a day rate, and a producer’s fee at scale would be the fastest way out of this range. Until terms appear, we count nothing for it.
