?9.3 lakh per run, and a ?12 crore correction
The IPL’s June 23, 2026 advisory confirmed the trade: Lucknow Super Giants sent him back to Delhi Capitals at a “revised fee of INR 15 crore.” Our calculation of the cut: ?12 crore on ?27 crore is 44 percent, or about $1.27 million a year at today’s rate.
ANI’s report on the deal gives the numbers behind it. Over two seasons he went 10 and 18 as captain and scored 581 runs, and Lucknow finished last in 2026 with four wins from 14. Divide ?54 crore by 581 runs and you get ?9.29 lakh per run, or about $9,815. By game it is ?1.93 crore across 28 matches. He kept wicket and captained too, so the per-run figure is unfair to him.
Back to the club that started it
He spent nine seasons in Delhi, 2016 to 2024, and captained the side in 43 matches. The first two seasons paid ?1.9 crore each. The fee then rose to ?8 crore, ?15 crore and ?16 crore, and by the 2026 season his IPL pay alone had reached about ?145 crore.

His fee from 2027 is the known change: ?12 crore less a year unless Delhi or a later auction changes it. The unknown is his BCCI grade, since sources disagree on whether he is currently in Grade A or Grade B, a difference of ?2 crore a year. A large disclosed brand contract, or a sold stake in anything, would matter more than either.
The rupee matters too. A 2025 tally valued his ?32 crore of IPL and BCCI pay at $3.74 million. The same rupees are worth $3.38 million at today’s rate, about 10 percent less.
